Visiting Mount Pleasant, SC once, is never enough, given the cultural extravaganzas that can be experienced here. Several free cultural events take place here throughout the year; Mount Pleasant has restaurants, beaches, great shopping arcades, golf courses, and more. Visitors to this place will have many options for recreation and historical sites, which can be seen below:

  • Old Village Historic District- East of the Cooper River can be seen many of the 18th century English-style towns that have been around since the development of Charleston Harbor. Not only were the resources for the settlers abundant here, but the climate was also pleasant all year round. Oak trees can be seen in this area. The town of Mount Pleasant began with the founding villages of Hillardsville, Mount Pleasant Plantation, Lucasville, Hibben Ferry Tract, and Greenwich Village. Sem Creek and Shem Creek Park are other beautiful places to visit here. Seafood lovers should try meals at Shem Creek restaurants.
  • Boone Hall Plantation- This is one of the most photographed places in America with a true southern charm. A revitalized mansion from 1938 can be seen in this area. Special presentations in the form of horticulture, history talks, beehive demonstrations, and more. Tractor tours are offered throughout the plantation. Interestingly, parts of the plantation have been featured in films like The Notebook and even American Idol.
  • Remley’s Point- Many people mistake this place for a jetty, but the peaceful views of the Cooper River don't give a true picture of nearby jazz and dance clubs. The hippest jazz venues here have historically been home to famous jazz artists such as BB King, Louis Armstrong, Etta James, and Duke Ellington. Riverside Beach was the state's first black beach in the area.
  • Memorial Waterfront Park- Often considered the jewel in the crown of Mount Pleasant, this park features lush green lawns for picnics, along with ice cream at the River Watch Café and a nautical play area. Visitors will also find a 1,250 foot fishing pier. in Charleston Harbor under the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge Another place to sit and fish is the Pitt Street Bridge.
  • Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion- This cultural arts exhibition was created through the history of making baskets from sweet grass; It's a forum for local baskets to show off their craft; It is an open-air pavilion with baskets, information kiosks and a place for the projection of documentaries. The pavilion honors the men and women who have carried the Lowcountry sweet herb tradition for more than 300 years.
  • Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market- From April and September, every Tuesday, people can enjoy fresh farm produce, live music, free children's activities and much more.
  • Rivertowne Country Club- Visitors will find that this is the only Arnold Palmer Signature golf course in the Charleston area. People will be able to enjoy a quality golf resort with true southern hospitality. Another option is the Dunes West Golf Club.
  • Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum- Visit national historic ships like the USS Yorktown and hear stories of valor here at the Medal of Honor Museum.
